The Long Distance Walker
Association is an Association of
people with the common interest of walking long distances in
rural, mountainous or moorland areas. By joining the LDWA, you
will meet other like-minded long distance walkers and gain
access to information on walking events and long distance
walking routes from 10-100 miles all over the UK.
( I joined this group in 2007 with the
mad notion of entering the 100 mile 48hour Mid Wales Challenge
and yes I did do it along with 500 other mad contenders. It was
one hell of an experience and I met the most amazing bunch of
people. Fortunately I managed to complete the 100 miles in 38
hours, it was very tough as you ascended the equivalent of 31/2
Ben Nevis’s and the second day the wind and rain really tested
you and took you in to the mind over matter sphere. I find that
doing an odd challenge makes me appreciate my horse and what he
fells like lugging us both up those step hills.) |

A useful site for horse riders living in the
Carmarthenshire and surrounding area. They have worked very hard
to re-open bridleways and organise quite a few rides through out
the year. |

popularly called the Tevis Cup Ride, is the oldest modern day

I met Janine in July
(2008) I was in a dilemma over my horse Celti who was diagnosed
with a serious illness and no money in the world was going to
change the situation. My worry was not knowing when the time
would be to put him down which was odd as I’m not new to
putting a horse down or other animals even from a very young
age. But with Celti it was different as he was one of the
nicest, kindest being I have ever met and being allowed to be
part of his short life was very special.
I was given Janine’s phone number and
after a short conversation on the phone she came over within a
few days from Rhyader for the day. Even though she was not able
to ‘fix’ Celti what she told me about him and how he felt about
his life and his life with me was amazing and also about all our
other troop of horses as she communicated with them all. It was
the most amazing day and an experience I will never forget and
have since rung her on a number of other issues that have popped
up. She is without doubt one of the most extraordinary, honest,
down to earth gifted people I have been fortunate to meet. (and
yes when the time came I did know). |

On a very personal note I have only really been
aware of Klaus Hempfling recently and I feel If we all had a
little of what he had the world would be a very different place.
I have seen his video and am in the middle of reading his book
both called Dancing with Horses. I only hope I have the
opportunity to meet him even if it means going over to the
island of Lyo by Denmark. (If you go on his site try and read
the editorials and there are some video clips) |

horses, a new paradigm in horsemanship. For horse lovers

Based 7 miles south of Aberystwyth Alw Jenkins
has invested in a 15.2hh Horse Simulator which allows the rider
to do any thing from walk to flying changes (having had a go
myself I think it’s the closest I will ever get to feeling I’m
riding a Grand Prix dressage horse it was pretty amazing). It is
fully interactive with a big screen allowing you to do different
dressage test and ride ‘out in the park’. The Simulator will be
a benefit from the beginner, build up fitness after injury, to
improving your posture and manoeuvres without over ‘staying’
your own horse. |

Simple System Ltd has proved that using a
variety of natural fibre sources in conjunction with oil-bearing
seeds, we can feed our horses without the use of cereals and
molassed feeds. It really works! It is feeding horses as closely
as possible to the way nature intended. |

A fantastic site about Alexander Nevzorov who
has revolutionised the mind of millions that the only true way
to establish a relationship between horse and rider is with the
horses consent and not against its will. Author of the book ‘The
Horse Crucified and Risen’ |
