Fahed Faisal

Faisal is as the saying goes ‘his father’s son,’ both have a very kind, gentle, laid back, been here before nature.
Call it ‘luck’ or ‘it was meant to be’, in 1999 through seeing an advert for a young colt, we came across our Celtic Shadow (Celti) again. Hilary Morgan who owned Celti at the time also owned a couple of stunning mares one of these being Gemina, who was not the easiest to get into foal and would suddenly come back into ‘season’ months after being confirmed ‘pregnant’. To be on the safe side Hilary would let her run with the stallion right up to the time of foaling. With Celti, Gemina finely gave birth to a strapping lad on the 28th of January 2000.
Two days later we went to see the foal who stood up and came straight over to us, a price was agreed there and then, that’s all we had to do was wait till June to pick him up but we couldn’t resist popping in to see him when ever we were passing. In all the time Faisal was growing I always joked that we should call him legs eleven as he always seemed as though he was all leg and not a lot else.
He is now seven and very keen to get out there and see the world. He is such a pleasure to ride and takes every thing in his stride and has complete trust in you. We backed him and rode him out about 10-12 times on his own or with Celti in the winter of 2005/06 just on the local roads and bridleways. The summer of 2006 flow by with none of the horses being ridden. Then one Saturday in the middle of October we tacked up Celti and Faisal and took them to the local Llanwnnen Farmers open meet.
Just under 80 horses turned out, Faisal's face was amassing watching all these horses ride passed him, then we fallowed. We only stayed out for an hour and both boys were very miffed at being dragged away. Faisal's been to a number of meets this winter which is a good education for him, having to stand around, open and close gates, ride over all different terrain in all weather conditions and most important to stand right next to mares and be a gentleman just like his father.
All being well we hope to get him to some endurance rides this season.
