LINSEED SEEDS

1.50 UNIQUE among feeds because of its high concentration of omega 3 fatty acids, omega 6 as well as alpha- linolenic acid. Horses need a minimum level of key fats to MAINTAIN GOOD HEALTH, as they can not produce these fats in there bodies these are an essential part of their diets. Due to the high content of oil and protein it is an ideal weight gainer and conditioner.
Recommended Dose:
Linseeds seeds must be soaked for 24 hours then brought to the boil and simmered for 30 minutes. Dosage is entirely up to the user.

£17.00/5ltr Cold pressed oil from linseed seeds is a rich source of omega 3 fatty acid, alpha linolenic acid and omega 6 in the correct proportions. Characteristics of a lack of these essential fatty acids may include a dull coat, dry itchy skin and cracking hooves. Omega 3 fatty acids have anti- inflammatory properties this being potentially beneficial for chronic arthritis as well as regulating smooth muscle and autonomic reflexes- construction of healthy cell walls- transportation of oxygen to body cells- regulation of nerve transmissions - primary energy source for heart muscles. It’s lignans support the immune system as well as circulatory and structural system. Linseed oil is conventional plant source an alternative to fish oils. Personally I put a teaspoon of sea salt in feeds every few days -every day if ridden, as well as having pure salt licks in the fields as some need more than others.

(Stallions usually self cleanse where as geldings can not. Some geldings will develop a build up of smegma in the urethra which can become very hard making it difficult for them to pass water. If you notice your gelding regularly standing with his sheath hanging out or is tender around kidney area or even starts playing up when saddled, it could well mean the poor lad is in discomfort. Some horses will let you check them or you should get your vet out)
