I don’t pretend to know everything on alternative remedies, and am learning all the time from others, reading and from personal experience. It was my own experience with Riva, a 3-year-old Thoroughbred, which convinced me of the benefits of medicinal herbs. Riva, who had chronic Navicular Syndrome was given to us around 1996 by a friend, as our land was quite flat and he was struggling on their sloping fields. Deciding there was nothing to loose, I put him on Devils Claw (an anti-inflammatory), Celery seed (improves blood circulation) and Hawthorn leaves (which strengthen the capillaries improving blood circulation around the joints), along with garlic, which are given daily to all our horses.
Within a year to 18 months the change in Riva’s mobility and stride length was incredible to the point that he’d quite cheekily jump over the fencing to get to better grass! Under saddle, you’d be hard-pushed to beat him in a race along the beach. From then on there’s been no looking back.In the wild horses self-medicate from the huge variety of natural herbs available . Domestic horses are not able to access these themselves, and pasture management has changed what plants are available to them. Consequently, horse owners need to give a helping hand without resorting to harmful chemicals – there are herbs available to treat most conditions, and these are especially effective long-term with no nasty side effects. Plus try and encourage plants to grow in your fields and hedgerows i.e. Dandelion, Nettle, Meadowsweet, White willow, Hawthorn, Cleavers, obviously this will depend on the soil in your area.
All the herbs sold on this site are Grade A and can also be used for human consumption. The herbs as a norm are sold in kilos and Tinctures in Litres but enquires for smaller or larger quantities are always welcome. Plus if anyone is looking for a herb or spice not listed on the site please e-mail or telephone as the selection of Medicinal and Culinary herbs and spices available are too numerous to stock but the chances are I will be able to order them for you. Packaging and promotional literature are very basic, keeping expenses to a minimum, and enabling me to pass on the savings to customers.
Since the end of 2004, I have expanded into selling Original Paintings, Limited Edition Prints and Greetings Cards by World renowned British Equestrian and Wildlife Artists.
I hope everyone who comes across this site finds the information on Alternative Remedies useful and enjoy looking at the selection of Art work available. Any useful info and constructive criticism is always appreciated.
